Instead of Tyres, Nissan 370Zki Snow Car Carries Skis
Nissan has introduced two snow-themed special edition vehicles, which take inspiration from both the 370Z roadster and Armada SUV. Designed to tackle harsh winter conditions, the Nissan 370Zki and Armada Snow Patrol are considered to be the ultimate cars of choice. Spectators will first see both of them in all their glory at the 2018 Chicago Motor Show.
The most interesting feature of the 370Zki are the large skis and military-style Dominator tracks, which it picked in replacement to tyres. It also possesses a 3.7-litre V6 pumping out 324bhp, as well as a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The whole drivetrain had to be customized and redesigned to match the upgraded parts, although the front brake discs and calipers remained in place. A lot of the changes were essential to fit the giant tracks and skis, which includes custom mountings needed for the suspension and three-inch spacers to connect the tracks to the wheel hubs.
The Armada Snow Patrol has been tailor-fit with parts that the team can buy off the shelf. It’s body has a three-inch hike and huge 35-inch MT2 maximum traction tyres. It has a purposeful look given by the 20-inch satin black Cognito Series wheels covered by big MT2s.
Meanwhile, a 5.6-litre V8 which creates around 370bhp paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission powers the off-road SUV. This allows it to arrive at a maximum towing capacity of 3.9 tonnes.
Nissan has installed two new light bars since most expeditions in snowy conditions require a little more firepower when it comes to lighting. You will find a DR36 with flood and spot as the roof and a tinier, 5-inch unit on its bumper. For higher pulling power, the bumper has been further enhanced, allowing heavy duty work.
There is only one 370Zki, and might stay as is, but for the Snow Patrol, private individuals may be able to replicate it.
