Alfa Romeo Introduces Giulietta Sport
Alfa Romeo introduces the Giulietta Sport to its line-up of hatchbacks, branding it as the warm counterpart of the standard ones.
While there are no upgrades to its performance, the Giulietta Sport has a sporty body kit coupled with 17-inch five-hole alloy wheels along with red exterior trims. For fans of the blue paint used on the Veloce, there’s also one available for this new model.
There are enlarged exhausts on the Giulietta Sport, while the interior is equipped with a leather steering wheel, a 5-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system, cruise control, as well as a front armrest.
It can be availed with a 1.4-litre TB engine producing 118bhp, or you can pick the 1.6-litre JTDM-2 unit which delivers the same power. The new model is already on sale, with the 1.4 version priced at £20,965 (over $29,000).
As far as accelerating from zero to 62 miles per hour, it takes 9.4 seconds for the petrol to reach it and 10 seconds for the diesel version, making it up to par with the Volkswagen Golf’s 1.4-litre TSI and 1.6-litre TDI-engined versions. An Alfa Romeo representative explained, “In a competitive segment the Giulietta Sport offers customers a higher spec car, with even more eye catching design at a compelling price point.”
Even if the Giulietta is relatively older than the Giulia and Stelvio, it still remains to be an important model in Alfa Romeo’s range. As a matter of fact, across the previous year, 1618 Giuliettas were sold, which is still marketable as compared with 2219 Giulias.
The brand returns to F1 stage later this year, which is part of the plan to further push and publicize the Alfa Romeo’s image as a sports car company along with its German counterparts.
