2018 BMW Series Lineup Welcomes Diesel-Powered Variant


The 2018 BMW 5 Series lineup has introduced a diesel-powered variant. Unlike the past models, the new diesel-powered car named the 540d xDrive is an all-wheel drive which carries a price tag of $62,995 including destination. That makes it $1,500 pricier than the 540i xDrive, which is not much difference. This new model, however, exceeds the rear-drive 530e iPerformance by $8,800 and the 530e xDrive iPerformance by $7,050, which are the most fuel efficient in the series so far.


The new diesel-powered vehicle comes with a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel I-6 that produces 261 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque, 6 hp and 44 lb-ft more that how the 535d performs. It is currently available with an eight-speed automatic transmission.


Some of the features you can expect on the 2018 BMW 540d xDrive includes 16-way power adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, LED headlights and fog lights, 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats, a 12-speaker audio system, BMW’s iDrive interface with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, navigation, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, and two USB ports. Some of the optional features you can opt for are 360-degree camera system, Nappa leather upholstery, soft-close doors, a wireless charging pad, multi-contour seats, Apple CarPlay, a rear-seat entertainment system, active steering, premium audio systems from Harman Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins, active roll stabilization, dynamic dampers, active park assist, an adaptive drive system, and a head-up display.
